about

My mother asked me to record her a Christmas song this year. Instead of covering one however, I re-imagined her favorite song on my recent EP, The Riversides, as this winter fairytale version :)

Hope you enjoy and Happy Holidays!

lyrics

I don't mind the sunrise
Even on the weekend
I thought I was on time
Turns out I was dreaming

So I let go but I don’t know why
It’s easier for me to just reside
No chords
Guess that’s why I don’t mind December

I don’t think about it
He left on the night wind
I don't care to explain
I’ll get in my own way

So I let go but he don't know why
I forgot to chase him this time

Guess that's why I left in the winter
Not the springtime
Cause all the in between days lost my mind
In the summer
I spent my time
Sifting through the tears I found the years I left behind
In the fallout, I'm not weary
I left it in the backseat of a car that I don't drive
Some will rain on my life
If flowers bloom in June I wonder what will bring July?

Cause Momma’s in the kitchen and Daddy’s down the hall
My brother is crying over girls who didn’t think to call
B A
My grandma’s going to risk her life so she could pray
E
It makes me feel a little worse for
C#m E
singing all day

Guess that’s why I don’t mind

December
